UNICORYN™ Spotlight: Betty Kiu, founder of SkinSupp Co.

Hi, I’m Betty, founder of SkinSupp Co. and a skincare product developer with over 17 years of experience across the skincare and pharmaceutical industry.

My background spans manufacturing and product development, where I’ve led the development of skincare products from concept through to production, working closely with experienced cosmetic chemists and industry partners to bring high-performing formulations to market. Over the past decade, I’ve been directly responsible for developing products across both emerging and established brands, ensuring each product is built with clear intent, strong formulation structure, and real, visible performance.

I founded SkinSupp Co. with a clear belief: skincare should be backed by science, made with intention, and deliver real results. Every product is developed to do exactly what it’s meant to do – whether that’s exfoliating effectively, supporting hydration, or strengthening the skin barrier, without unnecessary complexity.

As the brand grew, I began supporting other founders behind the scenes, helping them develop their own products from concept to pilot production with the same level of clarity and integrity.

On well-developed formulations that are built with purpose

SkinSupp Co. started from seeing a gap between what skincare promises and what it actually delivers.

There’s no shortage of good ingredients or advanced science in this industry. The real issue is how products are put together, and how they’re communicated.

Too often, products are built around trends, marketing angles, or what will sell quickly. At the same time, consumers are constantly exposed to new information through social media, TikTok, and online content, much of it conflicting or oversimplified.

It creates a lot of noise.

What I wanted to do was strip that back and focus on what actually matters: well-developed formulations that are built with purpose and deliver consistent, visible results.

SkinSupp Co. was founded on that principle.

Not more steps. Not more products. Just better execution.

Fighting Misinformation and Being Clear

One of the biggest challenges has been navigating and cutting through the level of misinformation in the industry.

Skincare today is heavily influenced by fast-moving trends. Ingredients go viral overnight, routines become complicated, and expectations are often unrealistic.

As a brand that focuses on structure, formulation integrity, and long-term results, it can be difficult to compete with content that is designed to capture attention quickly rather than educate.

You can’t outpace that kind of noise by being louder.

So instead, we focused on being clearer.

Clear in what our products do

Clear in why they work

And clear in what people can realistically expect

That consistency builds trust over time, and attracts the right audience, not just the biggest one.

Focus on performance, not pressure.

There’s always pressure to release more, follow trends, or constantly adapt to what’s popular. But growth doesn’t come from doing more, it comes from doing the right things well.

For me, that has meant staying disciplined in product development:

  • Every product has a clear role
  • Every ingredient has a purpose
  • And every formulation is designed to perform

When a product works the way it’s supposed to, everything else becomes more sustainable – trust, retention, and word-of-mouth.

Structure Over Motivation

I come back to the impact.

There are always challenges, but what keeps me grounded is knowing that we’re building something that genuinely helps people.

Sometimes that shows up in small ways – a message from a customer, feedback on results, or someone saying their skin feels more stable and manageable.

That’s enough to keep going.

I also rely more on structure than motivation – staying consistent, keeping things focused, and moving forward step by step.

Supporting More Founders as The Business Expands

One of the most exciting developments has been the natural expansion of my work beyond SkinSupp Co.

As the brand grew, more founders started reaching out, not just for products, but for guidance on how to develop them properly.

That’s led to me supporting other brands behind the scenes – leading product development, working closely with chemists, and guiding products from concept through to pilot production.

It’s a natural extension of what I already do.

Because ultimately, the goal is the same:

To create better products, built with more intention, and less noise across the industry.

Over the next 12 months, my focus is to continue growing SkinSupp Co. while expanding this work to support more founders who want to build strong, results-driven products from the start.
